Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Another sweet find, Larry! ::tu:: I'm a little foggy on determining second cut stag. Is it machine jigged?

Could the Case -31 possily dethrone the Camillus 72 as the AAPK user of choice?  ::mdm::

Thanks TF and RedRider for the kind words
Second Cut is where they use the inner part of the Stag that is machine jigged.

Sweet knife Larry, love the scales. Received this 6380 from Gino earlier this week, made in 1972. I carried it yesterday, nice carry for a big knife. OH

Thanks for the compliments on my 6380 gents - been carried everyday since I bought it from Gino. TJ, I only have one of the 31SAB Case knives - it is a beast. Here are a couple of 47 pattern Case Stockman knives I acquired last week; a 1978 63047 with beautiful pretty bone handles and the blockiest Case 6347 SS I have ever seen! OH

I have read about the fall of Case in the late 1980's and early 1990's. I own some knives from that period and most of mine are decent knives - small differences from the 1970's and early 1980's, but not blaring. I bought this Case 6347 SS last week, made in 1995, mainly because it embodied all the low-grade features I have heard about in this one knife. The bolsters are flat, look like they were sourced from Bear & Son, the "As Ground" finish on this knife looks like the blades were intended for the Working Knife series or a Buck 301 - not a bit of polish on them, even the tangs have a "cast" look to them. The handles were not rounded at the edges - straight as pine boards and have sunken end pins! The fit of the blades is fine, as is the opening and closing snap - this knife was built for function only, not for beauty. The funny thing is, I have the same knife built in 1998 - it is nearly the twin of the 1978 in all the above mentioned shortcomings - didn't take Case long to get their act together! OH
