Western bifurcated tang restoration
Earlier this year I found a Western with the bifurcated tang and the stacked leather handle.
The leather was rotted and most of the leather was gone from the handle.
I have always wanted to restore one of these and use stag on the handle, so that's what I did.
I thought it turned out reasonably well.
Of course when I found the knife there was no sheath with it.
I found this kit at our local leather store. It's a great fit for the knife and I thought not too bad a bad sheath for my first kit sheath.

Very nice, the patina on the stag matches that of the blade very well

Re: Western bifurcated tang restoration
Thank you.
I really don't care of the look of new stag unless it is on a new knife. New stag and olds knife doesn't work well for me anymore.
It was easier. and better looking IMO, to patina the stag rather than to buff all the patina off the blade.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.
I just realized I forgot to etch my logo on the knife.

Re: Western bifurcated tang restoration
Sure, but I would have to have a new stencil made.
I have been considering that anyway.
Probably next spring.
