I picked up this Tip Top barlow today at a barn sale. Kinda rusted, but the guy offered it for $5, so why not.
Here are some pics after I cleaned it up a bit.
So here are my questions. Is this an old knife? I know that Camillus revived the "sword brand" logo later, but the pen blade is a four line stamp. Also, the back of the main blade has a "2010" stamped in it. Is that a year mark?
Anyone seen this one before?
Thanks,
Glenn

Re: Tip Top Barlow question
Looks old to me and certainly wasn't made in 2010.
This old thread has a lot of back & forth re' morality and ethics, but there is a good deal of info re'
TIP TOP knives, too.
You have to wade through the crap, some of it written by me
, to find it though.

Looks like a very nice old knife to me. 4 line stamp makes it pre-1947. 2010 is a pattern but not sure when they used that.

Thanks for helping out with this one. As much as I don't like to mess with old knives (well, at least ones that I am not modding), this one needs some cleaning, there's a bit of rust inside.

Nice full blades. How's the snap? Looks to be worth the effort to clean her up. Well worth your five bucks.

Snap is great on the pen, kinda so-so on the main. Feels like when they use the blade without any lube and the tang wears down. The sawcut bone is really clean and full on it, which gave me pause to its' age.
