Welcome to the forum!

The CASE knife is an M346 made between ~1948 to 1952' for the Canadian Military to the best of my knowledge. Not sure where the knife being marked 1942 comes into play.
Here is one example of the 2 stamps that it came with as far as what is on the blade tang. Click twice to enlarge the pics. Is the arrow stamp on the handle in the first pic what you are referring to?

Sorry, my bad. Not familiar with just "CASE XX" as the only portion of the stamp on a M346R. Does not match either of the 2 stamps used. It is possible that the mainblade has been replaced.

Can you please show a pic of the stamp on the CASE knife?

There was a lot of knives that looked similar made by different manufacturers. It was a standard pattern requirement for the British( maybe USA ) armed forces. They even made some in South Australia.

Nice examples of WWII knives. As mentioned the Jos Rodgers and Sons 1942 knife was the standard WWII and later GI British Army pattern. The broad arrow is the British government inspection stamp. For Canadian forces it was the arrow inside a C as shown by Jerry. The Case XX was made 1940-42 in Bradford PA. Jerry your Case XX Metal Stampings Ltd was made 1942-45. I hope this helps.

Thanks SK! I actually had 42-45' in my personal records but I just picked up Witcher's book when I replied and he stated 1948' to 1952' for both of the M346R Metal Stampings stamps. Did not feel right when I posted it but went by the book.
Thanks for the reminder/correction. Also, I did not know they made a straight CASE XX stamp on the M346R. Good to know. Was this still on a large Sheepfoot mainblade? In other words, has the OP knife mainblade been reprofiled or was it possibly a Spear blade on that knife from factory?

Thanks and Regards, Jerry

You're welcome. Only made with a large sheepsfoot blade as far as I am aware. I'm not a Case expert though.
