Bark River Buck 124 ?

I hope some of you Buck pros can enlighten me on this knife I just stumbled upon during my daily visit to 'the bay'. It is listed as a Buck 124 by Bark River. I am not aware of any collabrative knives from these two entities, but I also know that in the world of cutlery, anything is possible. Anyhow here's a link to the listing and a photo of the knife. Any information would be appreciated.

Not much into straight knives, but the Bucks are some of the nicest looking knives I've seen. Don't know nothin' 'bout Bark River

Phil, Buck has been making the Model 124 in-house since the 1960's - never been made by Bark River for Buck. Buck did discontinue it for a few years until recently re-introduced. Looking at the picture it appears that Bark River may have bought knives from Buck and altered the Guard and taken some steel off the top of the Spine (and perhaps narrowed the grip - a popular modification). The Buck 124 in this picture is mine, pure stock from Buck and same year (2012) as the "Bark River" version in the e-bay listing. OH

Phil, I carefully read what the seller has to say about his knife:

"The knife for sale is an very nice Bark River Knives Customized Buck Limited Edition Frontiersman Model 124 Heritage Series knife in excellent condition. Polished black linen micarta scales are pinned to the entire tang. This knife maintains its factory edge, with a 6.5" cutting edge of 420HC stainless steel. Without doubt a special knife worthy of special ownership."

I don't think he is being misleading - the knife is indeed a Buck 124 Frontiersman, it is customized, and it does have a Bark River Customized logo etched on the blade. If it appeals to you it may be a good piece to own - as for me, I like my Buck's straight from the Buck factory or, if customized, from the Buck Custom shop. OH

Buck makes great fixed blade knives. Bark River makes great fixed blade knives. I don't guess I understand why Bark River would be customizing a factory made Buck knife.
