S/W anomaly, need opinion

Hi;
This 793 stainless slim senator with marine pearl handles is listed on page 9 of 1953 catalogue as being 2 1/2". As you will see from photo it is 2 7/8"+or- a miniscule amount. Has something been changed or is it just an anomaly. Thanks for any answer I may receive.

I would say a typo since 2, 7/8" is the usual size. For this type of pattern and similar styles. LT

Beautiful little knife. I love those little pearl guys.
Here is my schrade cut version of yours. LT, if you are still around... I am not sure of the model. Looking in the Schrade catalog reprint, I find it close to the model F7706, but the file blade is shorter in the illustration. Also, mine has an easy opener notch on each side.

Lt, it was you that exposed me to these little things, and Schrade Cuts in general. I am happy to own every one of them. They look especially good in the nice wood presentation boxes as well.

And speaking of boxes... I photographed this knife on top of a nice blue flocked box that allegedly came from Schrade. Inside the bottom is empty, but the top inner lid has white satin and US SENATE and the logo of such same body of drunkards, free spenders and ne'er do wells. I kinda thought it was a Camillus piece, never having seen a Schrade Senate knife.

I believe they did make some in pearl especially in Schrade cut the one posted is as stated marine pearl or cell which is seen a bit more often. Frankly they made so many variations of this knife and for so many companies I would have to try to look up numbers as well. It is a 770 something. However just to give you an idea of a few variations I pulled out a drawer full with original wood boxes with just some of the variations I turned some around to show the nail notchs. it is impossible to know how many companies they made these for. These are mainly Schrade Waldens however they are pretty much the same except for changing the model number ( usually by just using 3 instead of 4 numbers ). Also most of the Schrade Waldens went with stainless covers which were prime for company logos and engravings. I have some of the schrade cuts however did not feel like dragging them out. Your blue box is indeed a Schrade box if it is important I will pull out a full one to show you. Mostly used for special editions of LB 5 type knives. Although there may have been other inserts. Check out the RCA version of the 2,7/8" it is one of my favorites. LT
