Thanks Frank, the #23 Bull-Lock hasn't been as well received as the standard and liner-lock #23's, but I think they are awesome. Looking forward to your thoughts on it.

A few companies have made the pattern.....Bulldog and Hubertus that I know of and at least one other. GEC had a picture of an old one they called a 'nessmuk design' on their homepage at the time when they were asking folks to send in ideas to name this new one. Just can't remember the maker of the old one they had on their site, but it had a steer's head shield if I remember correctly. Sure hope you enjoy yours Frank.

Here is a pic of my Hubie in this pattern. Not really old, but a nice knife......and a Bulldog, not mine.

Interesting pictures Trevor! I am lead to believe that both the Hubertus and the Bull Dog were made by Otter. The bolsters and the lock are a giveaway for me. ::hmm::
My GEC arrived today and it s a blast! GEC is the leading manufacturer for sure. ::tu::

Take a look at the Otter:

Ditto!

I too am not a huge fan of the Stockman pattern but that #82 Dixie Stockman in the UN-X-LD grade with those slanted bolsters, lights my fire. I've been struggling with the decision, African Blackwood or Stag. It's all about the $$$ of course. I'm not a wood handle guy but I am in favor of saving $35 and I like the shield on the AB better. ::hmm::

I think I'm going into analysis paralysis. By the time I make up my mind they'll all be gone. ::facepalm::

I think that african blackwood plus nickel silver is a combination that is hard to beat! Maybe only by stag and nickel silver...

Man, who is doing preorders on them? I ordered one in jigged bone from collectorknives but haven't seen anywhere that's offering the elk. I should probably just settle for the bone. It's easier on my wallet... ::hmm::

When you see a knife that you want on the GEC Production Schedule......contact Mike at CollectorKnives.net and ask to be put on his Early Reserve List. I have found that there are a couple other Dealers that will help too. The Elk #47's have not shown up in stores just yet......but will very soon.
