Well there's the auction, I don't know anything about the knife, but I can recognize the the sales talk of a used car salesman working on a rot lot.

I know more about the .45-70 introduced in the Springfield Model 1873. It's the oldest commercially loaded cartridge, 134 years, still used in the Navy.

Roger his hype is killing me. The Sunfish of Sunfish. The $150.00, illegal tin. Funny I sold eleven cheetahs on eBay, all with the same tin, and some only sold for $140.00. I guess the knives weren't worth anything. I see he has a polished stag knife up for sale again with the crack near the pin on the obverse side. Item number 17013697787. He also has a Case Classic/Winchester Bark Ivory Whittler with the strangest shield I've seen. It even has two certs he claims. Item number is 170139266242. I'm surprised he's not including his dented silver dollar like he has with some of his sales to get people to bite.

Hey fellas, let me ask a few "trying to learn how to read a knife" questions...

Is that even a Case knife? Were there Case Classic/Winchester collaborations?

What is a "recall" tin?

Jim, Hukk & John,

With the knife that has item number 170139266242, this is a true Case Classic/Winchester knife! In fact this is the only time with this pattern Case Classic & Winchester were half & half, this knife pattern is mentioned in the Case Classic book, "The Long Haul" on page number 121 & is referred to as the two bladed "Anglo - Saxon" Whittler pattern (pattern number 62091). This knife appears to be a Prototype because of the exotic scales & shield, the reg run knives had Bone & Stag scales with plain Oval shields! W.R. Case & Sons & Winchester recreated a 1920's era cutlery classic. The legend of a special contract knife made by Case for Winchester existed among advanced knife collectors for over twenty years - but it was only a legend - a legend proven to be true when one of these knives was found in the Case factory collection! In the 1920's Winchester knives contracted with W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery for a special knife to be made by Case with the Winchester name. The replicas mentioned on page 121 were made exactly the same as the rare original & these two cutlery company's combined efforts to make this one knife one time, the only knife that combines two of the greatest names in knife making history on one knife!

The knife I brought to light is not a Case Classic/Winchester as claimed, its a Winchester White box limited edition & not a true Case Classic! ....Now with that said I will add (which is what the Dudes knife description should have said) it is rumored that these Winchester, limited edition White box Sunfish/Elephant Toes were made from the same tooling & dies as the 2050 Case Classic patterns!

John, You will find the story on the Bradford re-call tin in the Case Classic section of this forum (too much for me to retype right now) ....Later guys!

DD has a bad habit of taking any knife that might fool someone; slapping it on top of a Case Classic box; and selling it as a Case Classic. The best one I have seen was a Paua Mid Folding Hunter.....

Due to the Winchester brand being taken overseas, even their nice Queen made line has went down in value. So he makes up the Case Classic story and wallah...

Bad thing is he is not one of the ignorant ones that just doesn't know any better, as it has been brought to his attention many times. He's just a crook that smells up our whole hobby.

Not much of a collaboration if you can even call it that considering they were made on the same machines at the same factory. Its just a matter of assembling the knife with the right bits of cosmetics. They were all made by Queen, the Case Classics line, the Winchester brand knives, and any combination thereof.

Jim,

All he did was reapply the auction with two standard, stock factory COA's that are in no way related to this knife! The first one is for the Case Classic 2050 pattern that does not show this knife on its list with these Glitter Strip scales, the second one is from SMKW & is for one of the Case Classic patterns Jim Parker had made for them that is also not related to this knife because its not mentioned on this one either!

The replicas, yes, I agree with you on this! The original one that is in the Case factory collection is a true collaboration of Case & Winchester & a piece of true knife history!
