Hondo Crouch, self proclaimed "Imagineer". What an amazing, quirky and unique character.

Interesting fact: Hondo was a good athlete. When growing up he taught himself to swim, in a stock tank (for you non-Texans aka a pond dug for purpose of watering livestock). He subsequently tried out for and made the University of a Texas swim team, then became an All-America swimmer.

Thanks Jerry,

Don't want to get too far astray from the topic of this thread, so probably should start a separate thread on AKTI as they are doing a lot of good work. AKTI is a non-profit similar to the NRA but for knives instead of firearms. IMHO everyone on this forum should be a member of AKTI, to support their efforts and keep abreast of what's happening at the federal and state level regarding our knife rights. For more info see http://www.akti.org.

TSRA is the Texas state version of the NRA, promoting shooting sports and safety and protecting the second amendment rights of citizens at the state and local level. TSRA does a lot of work with youth in Texas. If you're a Texan and support the Second Amendment to the Constitution you should join TSRA. See http://www.tsra.com.

I hope I did that right ...

Just found "Jammin at Hippie Jack's" on YouTube. Looks like a pretty good site for Americana music

EDIT: Well, I didn't do it right, at all. Anyway, the Steel Drivers at Hippie Jack's on YouTube.

Just stumbled across Emmylou Harris, Red Dirt Girl. awesome song.

about two dozen versions on youtube, but one of the most moving is the illustrated, or animated one.

That's an older configuration of the Steel Drivers, but the new one is just as good. You'd never know that they made a change.

And to think, this song was written in 1952 and is more relevant today than it was the day it was penned.

My buddy and I were talking about some songs this morning and Satisfied Mind came up. I sifted through Porter Wagner, Jean Shepard, Jeff Buckley (Ugh ::barf:: ) and Johnny Trash before deciding I think I like Willie Nelson's version best.

I don't know Jerry, Willie does a pretty good job, but I think that I like Porter Wagoner's better. Guess that's just the traditionalist in me.
