New guy from Texas

Post by Mumbleypeg »

Just joined this forum a couple weeks ago. What a great community of fine folks and astounding amount of knife knowledge here. Still exploring the site and just found this place to introduce myself. My apologies for not doing so sooner. After a long business career, about 2 years ago I "retired" to the life of a full-time rancher.

I have been collecting knives since early 1970's. Actually was collecting them earlier, but that was about when I recognized I had an addiction. Back then you could still drive the back roads and find great old knives NOS in small town Mom and Pop hardware and sporting goods stores. I am a life member of Case Collectors Club but in no way limit my addiction to just Case, and although they currently still make a good quality knife my collecting interest runs more to older (pre-1970's) knives, regardless of maker. My favorite patterns are split- backspring whittlers and scout/camp knives, and most anything with stag or jigged bone scales. I've already posted a couple of other photos on other threads but here is something from my collection for an introduction photo.

Looking forward to learning a lot from the folks here!

Thanks,
Ken

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Grant, just FYI, most of us folks in Texas like to think we're another country! :) It's a Texas attitude going back to when Texas actually was a country, albeit for only a few years.

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I already feel like there are some old friends here, and impressed by the helpful, non-condescending attitude of the folks posting on AAPK. Wish I had found this place years ago!
