Is this a Schrade?
I have a nice knife that looks like a Schrade and on the tang stamp all it says is "Bear Hunter LB-5". I know the LB-5 is a Schrade but this one doesnt say Shcrade on it anywhere. Can anyone confirm that this is a Shrade?

Bubba,
Maybe try shooting that one with no flash. Looks like an LB-5 Scrim...but could be aftermarket? Can't really tell from that picture. How long is it closed?

Sigh...
I wasn't paying attention to your discription...
...sorry. The Schrade LB-5 was known as the Smokey. No "Bear Hunter"
.
So, maybe not a Schrade at all.

OK,
Too long...the LB-7 was 5" closed. IIRC, the LB-5 was 3 3/4"...someone may correct me on that exact length. The nail nick looks to be too far forward as well...at least to my eyes.

So it's probably just a knock off, Dang, it sure is a nice knife either way, everything is nice and tight!
Thanks, you guys are great!

I have to agree with Bill, The nail nick is too far forward (see the black line).
Also, the cut out for the lock release is much more rounded than the LB-7, especially toward the end where I put the line. On my LB-7 (the one I grabbed) it is much flatter than the knife shown.
I don't think it is a Schrade knife. Perhaps it is made by Bear & Sons?

By gosh johnnie, I think you've nailed it.
Although, I'm not sure about the "prancing" thing.
Unfortunately, going by price only, I doubt that the brand is made here in the U.S.A. But, I could be mistaken.
