Back to work -indoors- today, so this little guy is my carry.
It's an old, beat down 33ot that I carry in spite of the fact that I have 4-5 others in much better shape.
Some still in the box.

Thanks.FRJ wrote:Nice knives.
How do you protect from ticks?
I wear long shirts, Dickie or Carhart pants, keep everything tight[cuffs] and sprayed with Off Deep woods etc.
But no matter what you have to check "EVERYTHING" at the end of the day and inevetibly you find some. It really helps if you have someone who's good at inspection and removal of the little ---tards for you.

Taking this with me to work in the "Produce" department of a big wholesale membership club that begins with"C" and ends in "O"
About a month ago I used a Sodbuster to help a young lady who asked if the Clementines had seeds. She didn't flinch but her husband said accusingly " that's a pretty big knife, isn't it"?
No seeds, she bought them, I guess he protected her.

Carried these two this morning on a romp through the green Wisconsin woods. GEC Northfield Half Whit and a Orange Benchmade big Griptillian
Joe you were asking about how to keep the ticks off, in addition to what the other fellas said, long sleeves, Deep Woods Off, I also like to tape up the cuffs of my pants with some duct tape! If I have on my high boots I just tuck them in, but with the lower boots, taping up the cuffs of the trousers just provides one more obstacle to a tick trying to get up your pants leg. Kind of a redneck "tick gaitor" so to speak...
I also use Permethrin on my woods pants, spray them down and let it dry for a few hours, and it lasts for a couple of months. Not only repels ticks, chiggers, skeeters etc, but actually kills them.

Mike I duct tape my pant legs as well. Been doing it since I was a kid.
A pocket knife and duct tape can quick fix just about anything.

What's up with all this tic business? Is this a new phenomena?
I've spent a lifetime out of doors and never had tic.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no tics in Alaska but, I spent the first 30 years of my life in the forrest and fields of eastern USA.

Tics, which spread Lyme disease, (Google it), (from Lyme, Connecticut) are in every nook and cranny in these woods around here, and all over, and I do what I can to avoid them. I've been bit several times in the past, but never got the disease. (that I know of)

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
We've always has ticks in Florida, they just go well with red bugs (chiggers), mosquitoes, alligators and fire ants
. It does seem there is now more talk and reports concerning ticks. We were in Tennessee several years ago in September and my wife and her sister ended up being covered with something call seed ticks, hundreds of 'em! Sis ended up at the doctor with her bites, we headed back to LA! We always have to check our dog for ticks as she is an outside dog. It's not uncommon to find ticks in the ears of deer during early hunting season. I guess the thing of Lime Disease has made folk more aware of ticks in recent years

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Alaska has ticks but the species (dog ticks, moose ticks, deer ticks) that carry Lyme disease and other diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and tularemia aren't native to Alaska. However, those non-native ticks have been found in Alaska (tourists who bring their pets with them sometimes bring the ticks as well) so it wouldn't hurt to check for them.ken98k wrote:To the best of my knowledge, there are no tics in Alaska but, I spent the first 30 years of my life in the forrest and fields of eastern USA.
On the plus side only about 1% of tick bites result in Lyme disease. Factor in that those ticks aren't native to your neck of the woods and those are some pretty good odds in your favor, Ken!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Nice dogg,
Today I've got a blue Case Sodbuster if I need to cut any "produce" for the members and my newly acquired 94OT for my back pocket.
I got the Trapper for less than $21.00 delivered from the "bay".
Only 1 other bidder. Everyone was scared off I think by the description which was "worn and tarnished". The knife was put away and never hardly used after it got a little dull ,in my opinion.
After cleaning it up it has 9/10 walk/talk and is very tight. I got lucky on this one.

I don't actually have anything on me just now. But I found a rolled edge on the Thermite out near the tip and going to fix that right after I hit post.

Hello Gents,
Hope life finds you all well! Been awhile since I posted here.
Yesterday carries at the range. Some about guns and stags that go together in my opinion. Stag still in my pockets today.
Pics enlarge.
Regards, Jerry

I've got this notion that when I am in even shorts around the house I have to put SOMETHING in my pocket. This morning this Tanto bladed Kershaw got the nod. Touched it up on the ceramic and it's good and sharp!
