My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Looks like the SW 225H is in bone. Nice! You should put the other 225H to work; After honing, that is a LOT of sharp.

The MM 89 = 89OT
MM 8 = 8OT
The MM8 I have has pins through the bolster and a extra brass liner than the Old Timer 8OT(Camillus made ) I measured the MM8 and a 8OT same size so the liners could be made from thinner material in the MM8.
The MM89 and the 89OT same knife different tang stamp.

Was at a local consignment/antique store and at the front counter they had boxes in the glass display case with all kinds of junk.
My "spidey" sense was tingling so I asked to look in a box with old junk knives in it and found this one peeking up at me from under some old made in china junkers.
Looked unsharpened but was missing the shield.
I gave about $1 for it and took it home.
I filled the shield with epoxy I colored and now have a nice carry knife.

Here is a Schrade Walden pattern I had overlooked in my collection until recently.
172UH, Bear Skinner, 9-1/2" with a 4" blade, made from 1971-1973.
There was a second run called the Wildcat, same size, and made from 1990-1993.

This is my first of the Schrade Walden run.

I picked this one up this 164UH, (Badger), at the OKCA show in April, but am just now got around to posting it. Made from 1982 to 1988, they seem to be hard to find in any condition, especially with the Staglon handles. Who ever had this one seems to have used it quite a bit!

Hi Dale and Grant,
I have this Badger set in my collection; just after the factory closed down, I came across some Badgers with stag handles.

I think we missed out on some nice knives; that Schrade had in the pipeline, around 2003-04.
Schrade started to use some nice bone and wood handles, around that time.
I have quite a number of those very hard to find sets and sales-men’s samples.
I put a lot of time into collecting Schrade items, made after 2000.
Some of the knives I payed $10 for a pack of 12 knives for back in 2004; can not be found today..Ken.

Nice one Grant. Do you have a proper sheath for it?

Nice stag Ken!
I have one of the ones like yours with the LTD stamping, only with a wood handle.
According to my spreadsheet I bought it in ‘06. As I recall there were a number of them around then with the wood handles.

Here is the flyer dated 1981.
These usually came out for the fall sales meeting, so that makes sense it is dated 1981 as it is introducing the next years patterns.

Did you see the pouch type sheath shown in the flyer?

This 1983 flyer shows the pouch sheath better.
SC83-12E.jpg
I think the sheath you have there is actually intended for the 152OT, Sharpfinger or 152UH, Wolverine,
but it is difficult to tell from the angle in your picture with the knife on top.
