FISHERMAN'S PRIDE

A friend stopped by this weekend and we went fishing, well he dug out this old fisherman knife that his dad had purchased new in the 50's or 60's. He knew I was interested in pocket knives and asked me if I knew anything about it. We are wanting to know if anyone knows who made it. the only marks I can find are a faint etched "Fisherman's Pride" on the filet blade, no marks on the tangs. It is 5" closed, and about 8 3/4" opened. It is fairly well made and has a yellow composite handle. If anyone can help us out , we would appreciate it. thanks, terry

Most likely KA-BAR made that knife.

Some of them had the KA-BAR name acid etched on the blade and some had the KA-BAR name on the handle, both of which can easily wear off after years of use.

I think that with the straight pull and top swedge, Ulster could be another possibility. They also used a blade etch on some knives.

I have seen a number of Ulsters identical and with the same etch, same long pull, etc. I have never seen a Kabar fish knife with long pull.

thanks for all the responses. I would have to agree with some of you, that this is a Ulster made knife. I have a like new Kabar and the pull is different, not a long pull and the scaler is a little different. My Kabar has a hook sharpener stone on the one scale also. I'll do some more searching for Ulster and see what I come up with, thanks again, Terry
