Charlie,I too have surmised( guessing) that these may have been what was left of Remington stock put together after Pal got them. Everything seems correct except the pruner blades and that bone on the light colored one( which somehow reminds me of a Pal). That I personally have seen three of this scarce pattern like these,seems to indicate a pattern of some sort.A real mystery.

Beech,I THINK the Southington c1867-1905 ,no England Wostenholm(pre 1891 ?) ,or the AF Shapleigh c 1864-1902

The AF Shapleigh is on pg. 10,the Wostenholm is on pg. 3 in this thread.

All three are very fine wlf

The stag on the wostenholm is fantastic. I also like the jigging pattern on the southington. And,that Empire made D-E is outstanding.

I don't know Southington from Shinola, but that's strange looking bone to be from that era.

Bone(if that's what it is) looks almost like this Ulster Charlie,only the Southington has faded somewhat(and looks as if someone tried to torch it ) .Charlie Campagna thought by the Ebay pictures it might be jigged stag. ? Probably a little before or after the turn of the century.?

Although this knife has composition handles,made years later,it may be more rare than the Schrade Cutlery Co.s ? I have not seen any others,except the ones I have.

Yeah must be pretty rare cause i can't even think of one I've ever seen with Comp handles.

I got 3 in a collection from an 80-some year old man Perry. The only ones I've ever seen.I think Schrade used old stock steel with the new composition material.I doubt this pattern was in much demand in the late fifties or whenever these were made with the composition peachseed,which was short lived I believe.

Another very rare and special knife.

Rare because of the obscure mark,age,and pattern. These were made only in the late 1880s and early 1890s.

Special because I didn't know I had it until I opened the mail box a few days ago and found the package.

Here is the latest. As with many of these,folks know my passion for this pattern,and alert me about possible purchases.I learned about this knife from a good friend.

It is a later Sheffield knife,marked W Saynor.It is also the smallest farmers jack I have at 3 5/8",unusual for this robust pattern. As stated before most are around 4".
