Went to the post office this morning to pick up some mail and I was surprised to see a slip requesting a signature for an International package

I opened it up carefully not knowing what to expect It was a bomb from Frank, (Capt. Farrel),all the way from Germany!

I was so surprised to find not one but two unused absolutely beautiful bone handle Barlow knives!!

Well there I was today, trudging home after a 13 hour day at work, tired and dejected....halfheartedly checked the mailbox on my way to the house, not expecting anything good...when MUCH to my surprise...what did I find, but a rather long box with some patriotic stickers on the outside, an Eagle Globe & Anchor, and a return address from Salem OR!

All of a sudden my mood took a turn for the better! What could this possibly be? I certainly wasn't expecting anything from Dale, but from the looks of the package I had some definite good feelings goin' on. Like a dog with a nice meaty bone, I scampered to the front door newly invigorated all of a sudden. Being the kind of guy who likes to save the best part of my meal until last, so as to build up the proper anticipatory excitement, I set the package down on the kitchen table, while I showered up, thinking about it the whole time...what could it be... ...well doggone it I had no idea.
Returning to the kitchen, I made myself a PB&J sandwich, sat down in front of the box and stared at it while I ate...excitement building...finally after finishing off my snack, the time was right, I carefully opened up the box, and under the lid....

Mad bomber Dale scores a direct hit in Wisconsin! Return fire...incoming!!

Not only was there an outstanding collection of some fine USMC stickers, and a really cool red white and blue beaded lanyard, but the crown jewel of the package was this FANTASTIC Orvet Custom Schrade 124UH with an Eagle Globe & Anchor shield!! Are you kiddin' me?

The stickers and lanyard alone would have been cool enough, but this knife is a real dandy. Love the fact that it looks like a lockback, but is actually a slippy even has a lanyard hole in the bolster. 4" closed length.. Nice and slim, enough blade so you can grip it and open it that way without even using the nail nick. Great snap both ways too, just a super solid one of a kind knife! This one is going to see some definite EDC time, effective immediately.

Dale, THANK YOU so very much. Words fall short of expressing my gratitude, I appreciate the time and effort that went into putting this package together, and of course the work that went into this great knife. I will carry it and show it off with pride.
It's people like you that give true meaning to the term SEMPER FI...

I'll see Dales VN handled Explorer and raise him a Kershaw Leek with VN handles by WB. I have a handful of knives I'm too proud of to adequately express what they mean to me and this is one of them. It's not a bomb but without a doubt it is the bomb. Thanks WB.

Yah, I customized it and donated it to the local VFD raffle. I do one or two every year for them. Not always Leeks, but some better quality knife. They always seem to do well. I think they said the Leek that year brought in over $200, so it was worth the effort. And it really is a worthy cause, they operate an EMT unit out of there also. I do a couple a year for local school and church fund raisers too. We're a small community down here and a lot rides on the fundraisers to keep things going. I'm just glad I have something that I can contribute.

Well todays mail left me dumbfounded and giddy once again...I was hit with some serious artillery by one who has requested to remain anonymous ...let's just call him the anonobomber. I may have mentioned a time or two here on the site that I have been longing for a GEC Harness Jack, but have not been able to find one...well the search is over! This FINE example showed up today, Carved Bone Stag, 4 1/4 " closed length...what a beauty!

Thanks MUCH to the Anonobomber, you have went above and beyond, and made me a very happy camper!

Thanks Royal, but it's the fireman, EMT's, teachers and church leaders that deserve the praise. They're the ones that do the real good in this world. I just play a very small part in trying to help 'em.
