Got this ol' Union Cut Co/KA-BAR Loomfixer hanging out with me tonight.
I don't miss fixing looms, but I sure like the style of knife

This is a hit and miss issue that CASE is ignoring and hoping it goes away!! That seems to be their way as of late.. Some have acceptable(??) snap and others are WEAK!! I got the Shot Shot TB signature ebony and the snap is sad!! Guess after handling/buying a few GEC knives I expect too much!! ::shrug:: Seems as as long as it looks good thats all they care about!! John :D

It does have a weak snap but you're right about comparing it to a GEC snap, there's no contest.
Its not a bad knife, just somewhat of a let down :(

I got mine the other day. The pen snaps like a gator, but the main blade is a weak sister!

I think this one has found a permanent home in my pocket.
I love the massive spine on the main blade.

Edit: I cannot speak to Case's QC procedures but it is not uncommon for manufacturers to QC samples or to do batch sampling. In other words, they take every other tenth, twentieth, fiftieth (whatever) knife and QC it. Or they may take a sample of five or ten knives every so often and QC them (batch sampling). If the sample or the batch pass QC, they assume all the other knives will also pass QC. 100% QC (inspecting every single piece that comes off the end of the line) is EXPENSIVE and seldom practiced any more. It cuts into their profit and of course in present day industry, that is not acceptable. It's all about the money and product quality is secondary.

Of course Case. They manufactured the knife and warrantied it to be free of "defects in materials and workmanship". There are some assumed performance standards for any product. For knives, it is widely assumed that the knife will not fall apart or fail doing the task for which it was designed (reasonable cutting chores) and to accomplish that task, the blades will open and close to an unwritten but widely accepted industry standard. In this case, that thing commonly referred to as "snap". Having used the item is totally irrelevant.

Give them a call. 1-800-523-6350 It's a toll free number. What does it cost you other than a few minutes of your time? You may not get anywhere but on the other hand, you may be pleasantly surprised. After all, you are part of the customer base that keeps them in business and it's your God given, American, economic right to get a product for your hard earned money that satisfies you. Linnea used to chastise me for speaking my mind in a restaurant. I've lost count of the times I've told her, "It's my money. I have a right to expect a quality product for my money and damn it, they asked. If they don't want to know what I think of the food, don't ask."
