Attention all AAPK, Ebay sellers and buyers

Post by Mossdancer »

All AAPKer's
As we all know the auction prices of cutlery on ebay is in the toilet. I offer an idea that just might help restore the realized prices a bit.!!
The following is addressing ebay auctions
How about if we as sellers offer AAPK members a discount from any or all who agree of say 10% of final value of selling price. Use your smarts and think about it and how it might help us, all the sellers and the buyers. There of course would be some stipulations such as they must be a member of AAPK before the start time of the auction in question. Others would be a common notification method with certification of membership. Anyone interested please step up and say what you think. Lets don't beat the topic to death, just note interest and say so. Let start it within a day or so. I did speak with Dale(Orvet) he suggested offering this here in this forum. It might also garner new members for AAPK. If you see this topic please let your AAPK buddies know about it so they can have a say. What say you???????

moss,

As an AAPK buyer I would bid more for a knife if I am getting a 10% discount but as a seller I think this would be more work and a logistical problem. This would also cost me money as eBay will still take their % of the 10% discount. I'm not sure how eBay would view this as well. They seem to take exception to enough things already.

It happens that I have written discounts before. There is actually a place at the bottom of invoice sheet where they can be given. Ebay as my memory recalls can only charge on funds received. I believe they would welcome the attempt at energizing the market. Thanks for the response. The logistics could be worked out on the invoice, it would just take some cooperation between the parties when auction was complete. There is also a method for rebates(refunds) offered by pay pal when necessary. It seems to me that it would be a very nifty tool for an astute buyer to use to get an item at their price by bidding a bit more.

As a general rule, I first like to support members with stores here on the site. Then, I try to support members who sell on ebay. As a buyer, I would welcome any discount offered, but also realize you guys have to make a profit. Anything that would help to spark sales is a good thing, IMO! Who knows, that extra 10% might make someone pop on a buy they might otherwise pass on.
