Rare Canoe?

Post by Hawke »

Ok Gang...

I saw a Stag Canoe yesterday with an unusual stamp.

Now I think I heard of a "lost dot series" or something like that in Peanuts that before they got this standard 1993 stamp...

...there were some made with this style:

but they are quite rare. I saw the pattern on the Canoe but was looking only at the first number which verified Stag from the factory. I think it had five numbers in the pattern. I'll get him to bring it in again or get me the pattern stamp off it, but I do remember saying it was a 1993 to him. Then I got to thinking about that stamp and so...

My question is, does any of you have a knife with the stamp like the latter one? ...or seen / heard of such?

Thx

Howdy Hawke,

I think Case switched back to the dot system in 1993, so.... you will find some with 7 dots and some that are stamped 19 USA 93

The "Lost dot" knives run from 1990 to mid 1993. ::tu::

hey hawke,

yes, i have an appaloosa bone handled canoe that is a 1995 and it has that stamp on it. as brian said, they did only used the actual dates on the knives from 90-93 and then went back to the dots. alot of people like to collect the ones with the actual dates on them that were made during 90-93, i guess because case only made them that way for 3 years.
