Barlow Sabre Brand

Post by kjwknvs »

This knife has been filed and used to the point that the blade almost has a hooked look to it. All that is left on the Blade is Sabre and PAN.....I think it's got a pretty handle, though.

There should be 2 letters before PAN, they are probably JA. I have several Sabre brand knives and all were made in Japan. Last year at Christmas time I received a big Kabar coke bottle pattern knife from my son. Doing some research on Kabar, I found a connection between the USA Kabar and the SABRE Japan knives, can't recall the details ::facepalm:: . Seems the fit and finish on most of the Sabre brands leaves a little to be desired but for the most part they will take an edge and do the job.

Edit: Some Sabre info is in the tang stamp thread found in the Kabar section. During the Cole National ownership of Kabar, the Sabre imports were sold.
