The Great EBAY

Post by Forensic Jim »

I listed a Northwoods Blue Mammoth Ivory knife a couple of days ago. I was notified today that they canceled it because it violated the endangered species act! They promptly notified any bidders of this violation. My blood pressure just went through the roof, and I fired off a message back how ridiculous this cancelation is. ::barf::

Jim,

You should've known they are an endangered species... ::nod:: ::shrug:: because.....

Hell, they've all been dead for about 12,000 years. ::dang:: ::disgust::

I think the problem here is that this was the extremely rare and endangerd Northwoods variety. You should have listed it as being ivory from the much more prevalent Louisville Kentucky species. Yuo would have been all clear then.
A life without pocketknives is dull and pointless.

Jim, your post should be in "Heard a good one lately"
Maybe they saw the Protect the Woolly Mammoth bumper sticker.

Just how old is that endangered species act?...Hmmmm... :?

Hukk better not put up his Tyrannosaurus Rex bicuspid tooth handle whittler now. ::paranoid::

from what i understand, items are removed mainly because someone reports the item. check switchblades, lots of them and they are banned as well. with gazillions of listings they rely on squealers. in another thread we discussed banned ivory. they don't distinguish between elephant ivory and mammoth ivory.

That is correct. What may help are the terms pre ban for elephant ivory and 20,000 year old fossilized ivory and make sure it is sold in USA only.

::td:: Sqeealers, that is what they rely on. ::disgust::

Hey Bryan,
If you going to censor that piano picture, please do it right.
Add a red block over that gawdy Kmart ring would ya?
Thanks!
