I went knife hunting today, and scored some nice old Case knives. Also some not so nice Bokers, need restored, just what I was looking for. Now for the question. Where can I find some parts? Like a bolster for a Boker USA, that appears to have the Swinden pin setup like Schrade has? It is a large stockman. The other Boker USA needs a master blade, it is a medium stockman. Will it have the Swinden pin also? I can't make out the numbers on the backside of the blades till I get to my shop with them, better magnifier there. Here are pics of both.

Large stockman, this looks just like a Schrade Walden Old Timer I have other than the angled bolsters

Top one looks like a 9885

I knew Camillus made knives for Boker, but I have not seen many that Schrade made for Boker.
Probably the best thing to do is make a new bolster for the knife with a hollow spot on the bolster for the end of the Swinden rivet.

It is not the easiest thing to do, but far from impossible.

I agree with Dale on this. In fact, when I work on anything with the Swinden rivets, I usually try to eliminate that construction and go with standard pinning techniques for assembly.

Thanks guys, I had thought of making a new bolster, so I guess that is what I will do. Do you guys think the small knife is worth the work of making a new blade? I am a knifemaker, so I can make one, but will the knife be worth anything without the tang stamp? If I make a new blade, I will use A2 carbon steel.

On the large one would it be best to do away with that Swinden pin? I have watched a video on doing that, and it looks pretty simple to do.

I know I will have more questions as I go along. These will be on the back burner for awhile, due to backlog of new knife orders, need to get caught up on those.

If the blades are serviceable, and not too used up, I prefer to stick with original when possible.

Anything you do to the knife makes it not original anymore. At that point, it's worth whatever it is worth to you or a customer.

As far as the large one, if you are taking apart, you may want to consider getting rid of the swinden const. However, if everything is tight on it, you may want to leave it as is. The only drawback with swinden const. is when things loosen up, there is no real way to tighten things without taking it apart.

Thanks for the help. I think I will do away with the Swinden pin on the large one, and make a new bolster. I think I will make a new blade for the small one, if I can't find a used one. Also new handles for both knives.
