shields wanted
Im looking for a few very unique shields. Have a couple of knives that i would like to get customized and want a shield that will really stand out. Thanks in advance for any help.
Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand.

Shields can be easily filed from older (silver) dimes. Modern dimes are a sandwich construction and if you aren't careful you may file through to the copper. With a little more work they can be made from nickels. Nickels are rather thick, but are a homogenous disk rather than being a sandwich.
Best of both worlds might be a shield filed from the "wartime" nickels (the alloy used was something like 40% silver). That would give your shield a slightly unusual color: not true silver, but not german silver ("nickel silver", which has no silver in the alloy), with a durability about like german silver.

I sure didn't know that. I think a person could modify a purchased shield.

Re: shields wanted
I buy sheets of Nickel/Silver in various thicknesses in case I get a custom request for something different. Sometimes I send them out for engraving before I trim them into the shape I want. They serve me well.
