I've read where a lot of gents here like to EDC several knives. Normally I only carry one pocketknife, but I add a fixed blade in my pack when hunting, or a LB folding hunter on my belt when working at one of the farms (cleaning brush or fixing deer stands, etc.) So this week I decided to give two EDC pocketknives a try. I carried these two (a Case and a Schrade), one in the LFP (my usual spot) and one in the watch pocket. What I found is the same thing I have found for 50 years - one pocketknife serves my needs just fine - but it was fun to experiment. OH

If I were going to carry only one knife it would just HAVE to be a one hand opener.
The number one thing I use a knife for is cutting shipping tape off the roll.
And I ALWAYS have the roll in my left hand.
And this one gets a lot of clipped time

But I carry this
Case Humpback Whittler.jpg
And this
Case Chestnut CV - in front of wood.jpg

Because I CAN. And I love to get them out a mess with them during the day.

Got a Solingen lockback today as well as this 3" jack of unknown manufacture, anyone got an idea who made it?
It seems to be a well made little knife with delrin scales but it does have a slight bow to it, but this does not affect is operation.

I've been addicted to this #49 Queen for over a year now. It is a '58-'60, with real Winterbottom scales, according to the tang stamp. Most of the time, working and wearing bib overalls , there is some sort of cheap tactical type riding along with the Queen for rough use. Today it really paid off. Was building some wedding decorations for our pastor's daughter, out of rough cut cypress(outdoor wedding), when I had an issue with a 1/4" crown staple, dug out the Buck (Taiwan special) tactical and proceeded to break the tip :( . Had that happened to my Queen, I'd still be up in the air ::mdm:: ! It's almost like an insurance policy to have something in addition to your favorite EDC available for such improper use ::nod:: .

I had a funeral today, so I was all dressed up in my wedding/burrying suit. It called for something of a more gentlemanly piece of pocket cutlery than my normal big ol stockmans. So I went with this old western 424 bone, pinned shield, 3 9/16 inch stockman. Pen instead of Spey just to be fashionable you know.

Once you've been to the dam a few times, walked on the glass bridge at the Grand Canyon, and seen the Thunderbirds fly there isn't much to do around Vegas. If I am going to "waste" $500 or so dollars it will be on some nice knives or on a Browning or a Winchester - not in the toilet known as a game of chance! OH

Ps Nice Northwoods!

-actually I have a Moki I almost forgot about, fixed blade-

-and way too many great knives gracing this page to comment on them all, suffice to say it's like a buffet to a starving man

got this yesterday, appears rehabbed a bit, 4 incher and I like it :D I have another in lesser condition, might be a candidate for a professional going over and new scales- any suggestions as to what might be nice handles on a knife like this?

Sandy, that Moki is Cooool! Thanks for showing it. I really dig the brand a lot but mostly out of my price range with my new financial situation.

I would stick with some good old bone handles, maybe some smooth bone?

I'd say some Culpepper bone would look good on that #23. Maybe some amber RJB? -- http://www.knifehandles.com/rjb.html

Gino my friend. Some nice carries there. Those knives compliment each other nicely. Hell, they are nice all by themselves.
I am funny about which knives I carry. The damn things are not accessories, but tools, but I do find that I normally carry 2 stags, 2 bones, or 2 comp knives. In other words, I normally don't mix amd match my handle materials among my 2 daily EDCs. Both stag or both bone, etc. Probably just me but that is how I like it. I find on the weekends, I like to carry stag only. Probably a mental thing since I do spend alot of time outdoors and in the desert. Stag just seems more "outdoors" to me, as dumb as that may sound. Just how I do it.

Great weather yesterday and today. Out in the desert on the UTV carrying these (among other things) both days. Headed out in a bit...

Regards, Jerry

I saddled up in everything but a green shirt instead of a work shirt.
Can anyone guess what went down in the right front and what went in the watch pocket?
I bet you can!
