Unfamiliar Tang Stamp - Looks Like BKO?

Post by eyeselect »

This knife has a tang stamp that I do not recognize. Does anyone know the maker? The handle could be tortoise shell, but more likely it is celluloid. Closed the knife is about 3 3/8 inches long, and the main blade is about 2.5 inches long. Thanks

Have no idea but B..... Knife Co. The Big C and small o go together for Co. New one to me.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Thanks btrwtr,
I tried various combinations in my searches, but I just tried BK Co. and I came up with the Brooklyn Knife Co., but they seem to be exclusively concerned with culinary cutlery. They have a different trade mark also. KA-BAR also comes up, but I can't seem to make any connection to the BK Co. stamp.

Goins lists B. K. COMPANY, but provides no other information.

That generally means he had seen the stamp, but had no historical info on it.

Thanks Charlie,
Do you think the handle is bakelite or tortoise?

Hard to say on that one. I don't know its age. The material is quite dark.

I'm thinking celluloid.

Nice old knife.

Wish we knew more about B. K. Company.

Thanks Charlie,
When you see the side view of this knife you can see that the celluloid is very thin, like >1/32". This knife is very tight it opens and closes like new and has almost zero wobble.
