I've been studying the script, and it favors Packistani and Turkish based on my internet research. I looked at dozens of similar scripts, and could not find an exact match. Also, I observe that the bail and pins are made from a non rusting metal. The blades are a different color where the tang would be. Is this from tempering or just cleaning? Could it be that this was a "tourist" knife, made to look old and authentic? ::shrug::

Just pondering,

Steve:
Have no idea re: your folder. Would suggest you get a copy of Knife World. Within you will find a column referred to as whatzzit or something of the sort by Bernard Levine. He does know a heck of a lot about knives and when he does not know he has resources that are helpful. This sounds and looks to me as though it just might be a challenge he would accept. Certainly would do no harm to submit the story and photos and ask him his opinion. Good luck, by the way the handle looks sort of like caribou(water buffalo) horn.
