Who Knows What These Are? Not Really a Knife.

I have no idea what these two edged items are. Because of the fish gills on one of them it makes me think that they might be used for processing high volumes of fish. That's my guess.

The larger one is about 5.5 inches tip to tip (closed)
The smaller one is about 5 inches tip to tip (closed)

I think these are chinese fishermans knives, for repairing nets. The tail is used like a marlin spike to untie knots.

Definitely of Chinese origin.These started showing up on e-Bay a couuple years ago and were supposedly used for harvesting opium poppies.I have a couple of other knives whose blade only opens 90 degrees and those were grape harvesting knives so the opium thing is not too large a stretch.I know those were very inexpensively made but they seem to work well.

I can see how they could be used for opium. I guess the poppy produces a bulbous seed capsule and to harvest the opium they cut a ring around the bulb. It then oozes a milky sap that is scraped from the bulb which is the opium.
