My weekend at the Queen show

JUST GREAT.

Bryan, AAPK was WELL represented and I am proud of each and everyone of the members that show the real spirit of our group. I passed out paper business cards of AAPK the whole time, so hopefully more will join. The photo attached is Bill Howard and Ken Daniels at the GEC plant. I presented them with a copy of the book for all the help they gave me. Folks I can't say enough good things about this bunch. They were the buzz of the whole show no doubt.

Ken, I promised to not post the photo, OOPPS. I just couldn't help my self. I am so proud to have met you and Bill. I see nothing but good things coming from this plant.

I gang at the show were so nice to me and my wife Deb. I look forward to seeing all you again very soon. Please keep in touch.

I hope that the book is as good as the reports so far. I hope to hear from all of you once you have read it.

I went to a gun and knife show in Shawnee, Ok. today. It was pretty disapointing. A lot of guns and not very many knives. Only one booth had lots of case knives,Bokers, German Eye ,Etc.
No one I talked to had heard of GEC knives so I was proud to show off my primitive bone, and burnt stag knives . They were very impressed with the knives.
I think they will be checking into the GEC line

Well to let you know I met PA. and his wife at his table.
Pa. was giving away his knifes to some young boys.
I saw one and his EYES light up so much he could have lite up a light bulb.
That was a kodak moment...

The meal was super BBQ RIBS and Chicken.

I hope to have made some new knife friends.
I told most of them I was new to collecting.
Not a one took advantage of that. In fact I was buying a Queen's Pearl Dr.'s knife (96s Pearl) from him and even said I would take it. He said I just wanted to know if you could read a knife . I see you don't. He went to a box under the table and gave me the same thing but much better Pearl. Showed me why this one was much better. Then he took $10.00 off the price and gave it to me.
His name is Clarence Risner.
He has some deal with S & M that they make knives the way he wants them to end up with his kind of blades in them.(His meaning all S&M's blades). Jennie even brought them to the show for Mr. Risner to sell. Now thats HOT off the line. Here is the S&M #43176 Fire Oak, Brown Sheffield, Peacan Corn Cob, and Stag. O yes I bought all four to make it a set....

Jennie is SO good at selling she sold me the 2 2007 SHOW KNIVES.(#22269 and 41269).
Then Howard Drake sold me the 2006 Queen Cutlery Collectors Club Knife Queen Steel #46 QCC Stag Fish Knife. He is a cool old man...

Also got the 2005 Queen Cutlery Collectors Club Knife fixed blade from Howard.

One auction knife was a Queens # 50 Belt knife Cocobolo 2004 fixed blade. 1 of 25.
Some one donated (for the auction) a Northwoods Knife Co. made in Gladstone Mich. All I can remember is he said it is D2 steel.
So I got 2 knives from the auction.
The money from the auction will be spent on the employees at the Christmas Party.

Last but the best I went on the Queen's factory tour 2 times...

And ended up buying a souvenir knife.
YUP PERS SHE IS YELLOW....

A QUEEN SOD BUSTER 70 A with out a crack by her pin yet.

As far as FUN goes when we got back to the hotel in the lobby and shared stories until mid-night both nights was the most fun part of the day.

PS I wore my AAPK hat all the time. many asked me about it. They thought I was a DEALER....

Great report Ken!!

Sure sounds like you had fun. Glad you got to meet Clarence he is a great guy. I've been doing business with him for years. He is the main Schatt dealer, always has the best prices. He is the man that has the Premier line made, every Premier knife goes through Clarence. As I'm sure you know Clarence is the out-going president of the NKCA and probably knows more about knives than anyone we will ever meet.
What is the # 43176 ? Show us a picture, is it a new pattern ?
I might need to spend some $$

PA, thanks for the reports! Is that you between Bill and Ken? Both nice guys; I had to take about 6 pictures, and crack jokes before I could get one of Bill smiling, 2 years ago. He smiles, except when he sees a camera!
So how do I order a signed copy of your book from you??

upnorth is John Cable the Marbles guy ? Ever time I went to that table he was busy or he was not there. Dave Shirley did not make it.
Clarance said he was going to get even with you for calling him "a bit of a gruff guy"....

I for got what he wanted me to say to you.

I have flat feet so ever noon I had to go back to the hotel pool.
Then took a nap for about an hour or two. I did some sitting down when ever I could. I must be in the GOLDEN YEARS of my life....

It's killing me that I could not go. I'll have to start planing now for next year

David, I can't thank you enough for all you do for AAPK and the knife community in general. You are like the Johnny Appleseed of knife collecting

Keep planting those seeds into the hands of the young sprouting collectors out there and thanks for handing out the AAPK info.

Ken, Thank you for sharing your experience at the show. It almost made me feel like I was there.

Sounds like everyone had a great time.

What is the # 43176 ? I think it is called a new pattern # It is on the box.

Just to show you all what they look like here are some sorry photos of them.
To my knowledge the only thing different about them are the blades used with this frame

Yup WHITTLERS that's what they called them. Nice to see Johnnie and Hukk know their stuff.

You got that right, I have a few from Canal Street Cutlery and they are a very elegant Whittler.

This is not part of Queen's show but part of my trip.

Well I guess the photos worked some.
I say that because of all your good words about the knives.
Thank you. Its nice to see others like what I spent my money on...

But here are 2 that you just need to see in your hand.
I do not know much about them other than Dealer's could NOT get them.
You had to show up at the factory to get these.
They are called Acrylic handles. Who knows what they call them so I just call them Red and Blue....

Northfield UN-X-LD # 37 Acrylic.
I think only 6 or 10 were made the same.
Many different colors but no YELLOW...

To me they are a big trapper. The springs are so strong you all most need a tool to open them. When you close them make sure your fingers are not in the way...

I was told that they will not make them again.
If you want one look up Ben Gray at Pocketknifeworld.com.
I was told he ended up with what was left over about 20 of them.
That is if he wants to sell them ???

I told Jeff about the how dumb a foreigner like me was...

I thought the Shield was the Queens Crown on the knives and state signs.
Like in Canada, Queens high way and Kings high ways...
