Re: Korn
And it's going to cost whoever buys it a lot to get it working!
I'm pretty sure this one will come through the shop.

Awesome rare knife. Don't see many of those. Definitely worth restoring.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Re: Korn
I know a very knowledgeable collector who bought a Korn's Patent parts knife ($165 or some ridiculous low price) on ebay. He figured by the time he had it restored he would have about $1,200 into the knife and figured it was worth 2 or 3 times that price.
He was a happy camper!

Apparently seller stopped the bidding and relisted it.

Re: Korn
It sure looked like an open auction a couple hours ago!
They must have gotten an offer they couldn't refuse.
I don't see any problem with making a new bolster, even if a person had to file it by hand.
The knife is definitely worth the work to restore it.

Re: Korn
The bolster is the release mechanism on these. It requires fairly precise milling on the underside. There is a screw and a threaded spacer plate missing also. I recently rebuilt one that was in much worse shape and was also missing the bolster.
