Here's one of my new knives that I've only seen in pictures before but never up close. I really like the reversed etch on the blades, and the construction of the knife. Is this considered a stockman or a sowbelly?

To me, it is a sowbelly stockman. I'm not sure about the technicality of that but the name fits for me.

If I had it, I would call it a sowbelly. Another term might be "Serpentine Stockman". That's what Bulldog called their small sowbellys. Same knife, just a different name.

I get caught calling it a Cuttin Horse regardless of brand; incorrectly I guess. The Bulldog's seem priced a little more reasonable at the wholesale level; and I suspect they are made verrrry similarly

Being a collector of Bulldogs, I have come to call it a serpentine stockman, also known as a sowbelly. The serpentine stockman name has been used for a long time in place of sowbelly.

Here is a 3 5/8 1984 Red Sparkle serpentine stockman by the book. But I call it a sowbelly. A name that can be correctly used interchangably I suppose.
