Did Boker really do this?

Okay, I got this knife in a lot on the bay. At first I thought noway. Then, I thought a funny home made knife. But now I'm doubting anyone would go through the trouble of this at home. Have you guys ever seen one of these. I know Queen made a cheap hidden backspring barlow and I've heard Remington made one before them. I was just wondering if anyone has seen this Boker and knows the age. Thanks

Yes they did. I have seen several examples of that knife and owned a mint one at one time. Kind of a Boy's Knife. Very interesting construction in that the bolsters are flat pieces of NSL pinned on top of the bone handle material. Not to mention a closed back. An unusual little knife. I seem to remember the one I had as having spear point master blade.

I tried to find it in reference but one book has knives that are newer and the other older. I think it's from the 50's or 60's best guess.

Thanks btwtr, I thought it was of that period. The bone reminds me of the bone on those cheap German knives of the 50's and 60's. Like a cross between that and the cheap Japanese knives of the same period. Now I want to see a mint one. I take it that this idea failed?

Thank you cato Sir. Do you know of any books that touch on these knives? Also, I like yours better hehe This one has a regular size pen blade that I assume was only in the Boker knives made by G.Schrade? Thanks again

I had already found that and read it… knice one cato. Mine is a 103 model and I am assuming now that this blade is an ORIGINAL PROFILE!!! This is great! Maybe I can get the bone to shine more like yours even though the other side is way darker. Now I wonder if this has been bleached by the sun on this side. Yes Boker really made it. Boker bought the George Schrade Knife Co. in 1956 after many tears of pursuit. They continued some patterns that were already in production with their tang stamp. That pattern was inexpensive to make. At the time there were a lot of cheap imports flooding the market from Japan. I'm not sure how many were made but Boker bought the company for the Switchblade production. The Switchblade act led to the demise of the company and all tooling, machinery and materials were liquidated at auction.

Thanks for clearing that up Sir. I was already telling the knife story all wrong but only to a couple people. Yep, Bad idea for Boker. Did they not get the memo? I'm thinking Geo.Schrade did… But he seemed to get in and get out rather quickly anyway it seems like from what I've read. He seemed to have that entrepreneurial mover and shaker sort of spirit as well as being a friend of the road and seas… Git~R~Done
