I have noticed on alot of scout knives and others that have 4 blades or attachment, most all the others snap great and the one opposite the main does,
but the mains seem alot weaker or none at all, on some that are almost mint. What is up with that?

Re: weak main blades
I have noticed that also;it may have been that the designers knew that most of them would be used by people who may not have had the strength to open the blades.Strangely though it is usually just the master blade that is affected although it is the most frequently used.
I've had some older knives that you would need a pry bar to open all the blades. My grandfather's Kamp King;the can opener blade is all but impossible to open.It feels like the tang wasn't properly ground but I'm not about to change it now.

I never thought I'd need a knife opener until I bought some scout knives and lost all my finger nails. One thing I have to say though if you ever get a chance to handle an AG Russel scout the first thing you notice is how nice all blades open and have no wobble. To me he has built the best one on the market.

Re: weak main blades
To me I would think it involves leverage.
The main blade is the biggest and longest attachment.
The longer the blade the easier it opens.
Also near mint means the knife was still used.
The main blade on those types of knives is always used more than the rest.
The more used the easier it will open.

That's a beautiful no non-sense camper, glad to hear the Russel doesn't suffer from the same weak main issue.
