My latest Schrade

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Nice set Ken. Don't see them with the case too often.

I like those blue bone Schrades.
Too bad they didn't do that sooner!

Hi Dale,
There is more to the Schrade Closure story, than I know about.
The knives made by Schrade in the last four years, I believe were some of their best.

There was a plastic woodgrain mounting plaque for those knives, which were made for a famous knife fellow, Parker, about the time of the Centennial in the U.S. I believe that Schrade was given the contract but that the work was performed by Colonial or Imperial. The case is nice, but I am not sure that it has anything to do with the knives. The knives are very nice also, with some pleasing bling related to the American revolution. I have a set with matching serial numbers, all the papers, boxes, etc. but no plaque. If anyone is interested let me know.

Hi Grant,
Over the years I have had about six of those Parker knives; I sold all of them.
When this set came up with matching number and in the case; I emailed the seller and asked about the case.
The case looks like the case one of my Red Bone Sets came in. However, it is 13" long.

I have posted some of the 8OT tang stamps - I have about 40 Schrade 8OTs. From 1959-60 to late 1970s and 1990 to 2004.
I do not have even one 8OT in the Blue Box; I think they were made in the 1980s... Ken

I"ve been looking for a Schrade 80T and I finally got one!
I've got 5, 340T's and now have big brother.
It's in decent shape and I'm carrying it today to work.
Last picture shows it next to Buck 301 I got for Christmas gift.

Very nice, Keith. Am I seeing Rogers bone and a Craftsman (or maybe Wards) shield on that 804?

A new Schrade showed up in my mail box yesterday, a 3rd Generation large stockman #C648.
I found it in Ray's (Pladin) store, Sweetwater Knives http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... e30-y.html

The price was excellent and is is a pattern I didn't have.
Thanks Ray! ::tu:: ::tu::

Nice knife Dale, I like all the knives in the 3rd. Generation set.
Someone told me, one of the 3rd. Gen knives was the same as the Schrade LB2. Ken

Ken,

I believe you meant the LB4 is similar to the 3rd Generation Knives. The LB2 is just like the LB1, except that it has the Staglon handle versus the rosewood handle. The LB2 was made for KMART. It's the small single blade keychain knife.

The LB4 is very similar to the 3rd Generation knives, and it is a very hard to find knife. I am not sure of the numbers made but they go for a premium, if you can even find one today! I am fortunate to have one, however, I would like to have at least a half dozen more...just because. I have some pictures I will try to dig out later today.

I also have a couple of the 3rd Generation sets in the original displays....I would be willing to work a deal with someone that had a set of equal value that they would be willing to exchange.....like a Blue rope Set or a classic set....wink wink

Found a NOS Ulster Old Timer 58OT, still in the original box, this past week. The knife is in perfect working order - springs snap like it is brand new. OH

Hi Tom,
I have a set in the original display. I would exchange my set and my car for a Blue rpoe set (in the cigar box) -
I have only ever seen one set of four, Blue rope set; and that was without the cigar box.
I would like an LB4...Ken

OH,
I like showing my old 881 off; it has been my every-day-user for 40 years.
One question; why has the 881s have the strongest snap? It is stronger then all the 8OTs I have ever seen. Ken
