Anyone know who made this knife. Small fixed blade.

That patent number was granted in 1934 to Western States Cutlery in Boulder, Colorado. It was used off and on up into the 1960s on some knives. It related to the bifurcated tang construction of the handle.

I found another of these knives online they were asking 120 are these that rare just wondering.

JC Higgins was origionaly a Sears brand name before being used by Western; as tongueriver said.
Here's a short summery of the Sears "JC Higgins" line of goods also refering to Western carring his (Higgins) line of sporting goods...

Western--as in the Boulder Colorado knifemaker named Western--never carried a line of sporting goods, or used the label "J.C. Higgins," for products they sold. They made knives on contract for Sears, Roebuck, & Co, marked with the Sears "house brand" of "J.C. Higgins."

The Western Sporting Goods Company of CHICAGO was a manufacturer/wholesaler/jobber for sporting goods made by various manufacturers. They either produced in-house, or had another company produce, various sporting goods marked with the Sears "house brand" of "J.C. Higgins."

Other than sometimes selling to the same retailer, there appears to have been no connection between Western BOULDER and Western CHICAGO.

So far, I can't find any indication that Sears was buying Western-manufactured knives prior to WWII, and nothing really solid prior to the 1950s.

People can always ask (and often do) whatever price they want but I don't see that knife going for near half that price. I wouldn't mind owning it though, just not for that cost. I think its a cool knife.
