I came across an interesting website that has a lot of history on the old hardware brands like E.C. Simmons, Shapleigh, Winchester store, HS&B (OVB,) Belknap, etc.

The words vintage and antique are vague. Actually most words are vague. Even the word vague is vague.

They are a real nice bunch of people. They have auctions every so often, usually one of the members huge collections of Keen Kutter, Shapleigh, Winchester etc. Along with the auction they usually have a swap meet in the parking lot that is a lot of fun. It is held in Richmond Missouri. Bob Simmons and his wife Rilla host the event, and Bob is the auctioneer. I've seen a lot of rare Keen Kutter pocketknives there. I haven't been able to attend one for a few years now, but still enjoy the flier for the auction when I receive it in the mail. There are a lot of very specialized collectors in that club that are really knowledgeable in their field. I learned a lot about some of the common counterfeits you see in Keen Kutter and Winchester from them. Mark.
