tightening a GEC Farm&Field

blade loosened slightly under what I'd call normal use; anyway what I'd like to try:

accurately dimple each side of the rivet with a center punch lightly

make up a rig of two center punches so they can be supported and solidly brought to bear on the rivet heads simultaneously.

give one of the punches a smart rap with a hammer and perhaps expand both rivet heads and so tighten the joint.

opinions or other methods?

I'd send it back to the company and let them deal with it. That's a nearly new knife judging from the photo.

I agree with Phil.
If you work on it, it will probably void the warrenty if something serious goes wrong.

Yep, that's what I would say as well. Once you take it down, they won't touch it.

I don't think that's relevant. Contact Great Eastern and send it back. The manufacturer is responisble for the warranty.

Sandy, if you were to do it yourself the last choice would probably be best, although you don't want to give it sharp raps. Light taps is where you want it, just a couple at a time and then check it, if it's still loose try a couple more on the opposite side. Keep doing this until it's tightened up. Keep in mind that you might mar the washer a bit in the process. Smaller peening hammers are best for that kind of work.
