Fish Knife I picked up, need help with strange blade
Guys, I need a little help with a strange blade on a fisherman's knife I bought this weekend. I have to admit I am not a great fan of the pattern, but it is a Schrade Walden, made for Sears. Plus the scaler blade is more like a bone saw and there is a 4 inch rule marked out on the scaler blade. All I could guess is that it might be for bream or crappie, though 4 inches would be a small crappie.
I'll post a photo and welcome any insight.

What is the purpose of the strange looking saw blade. It sure is a strange scaler if that is the intent. Seen one like it before?

fish scaler, hook disgorger and bottle opener. some scalers have bigger teeth but they are made for stll made to clean fish. the shield is a hook sharpener. cool old knife.

I am not sure just an idea ok.
Could the saw teeth be used to cut the size of a bobber down ?
And the scale 4" be used to measure the bobber.
Some old fisher men use only cork or wooden bobbers.
They would trim them down in the boat to fit the bait.
Any one else ever heard of this ?

The ruler scale makes it easy to tell! Is there a full inch starting the ruler??Ringmaster wrote:Maybe it's the camera, or maybe it's just me...but the scaler blade appears to have been "re-done", post-factory. For what reason, only the person that did it could say.
Notice how the blade doesn't look "full" ? That's just "one more guess"....
