What is the value of this knife?
I have had this knife for at least 15 years and who knows how long my grandfather had it. I don't know the brand of this knife but it is made in Japan and has a statue of liberty shield on the handle. Does anyone recognize this knife or its maker? Do you have an estimated value?

Hi Gator,
Well, pal, I can identify the knife for you. This was one of those "not sold in stores" ads, that were cashing-in on the American Bicentennial, back in '76. I have no idea how many they sold, the edition was limited to however many the public would buy. There were thousands, I'm sure... my father-in-law bought a couple. They put the ads in every magazine you picked up (along with hundreds of other ads, selling "BiCentennial" anything.
Retail price back then was in the neighborhood of $7.95. The value today is of no consequence, since you got it from Grandpa. Keep it, polish it, and think about the old man, every time you pick it up.
Take Care,
JR
