Moore Maker

I just got a Moore Maker Large Yellow Delrin Trapper.

Since I'm giving to my brother-in-law as a birthday present...no pictures! I don't want to have pictures on my computer of a knife I gave away. Too painful!

Anyway quick review of my first Moore Maker...
Minus -- The talk isn't all I would have hope for. Thought a knife that big would have slammed shut instead of just snapped shut.

Plusses -- Boy, for under 35 bucks I think you can't beat it! Big knife...carbon steel...sharp out of the box...nice fit and finish...I even like the color of the yellow delrin.

All in all, kinda hate to give it away!

I've had mine for about 6 months now.I'm really happy with it.

I got an MM yellow bone handled sodbuster a while ago, just to see what was what. Completely convinced me. And like you I picked up another (well two) as gifts. One medium trapper and one large stockman. Both in buffalo - both quite magnificent knives.

I have the jumbo double lock back trapper and it has decent fit and finish. I had. when i first got it, the spey blade would hardly open. I had to file some metal off the heal of the blade to get it to open. I'm suprised something like that would get through quality control inspection before going out. the walk and talk is pretty lazy on mine too. Overall though, I like it and carry it regularly.

overall, i think the queen and camilus knives contracted by mooremaker are of very high quality.

I believe the yellow knives were made by Queen and the horn ones made by Camillus.

s-k is right i think all the and bone, stag etc are queen and the delrin, horn were made by camillus.

I hope someone can clarify.

I understood the bone and stag were made by Queen. The horn and celrin were made by Camillus.

Whatever though, I've have about 16 in my collection.
I have a couple of yellow handles I carry. The rest are just part of my collection. I have bone, stag, LongHorn, and I believe water buffalo.

So far I've been well please with the quality. I will say (IMO) that the pricing they have on their knives a little high. There are in the realm of Schatt Morgan and then some at times and I don't think their quality is as good. Not saying they are a bad knife, just saying for the $ I would expect quality like a Schatt.

Before Camillus shut down , they produced all delrin...Queen did the bone.

There seems to be confusion on the Horn handles.....either way , they are top notch.

No decision has been made on whoo makes the delrin going forward.

I just happen to have one Super YELLOW handle to show off.

She came from Jfarmer here at his AAPK store.(North 40 Cutlery).

She is a small sodbuster but very LEMMONIE...

Delrin and Buffalo horn were Camillus. All other natural handles were Queen.

Bear & Son and Boker will be making the new line of lower end MM's. I stopped by and saw the protos a few weeks ago and they are going to have some really nice models.

I'm getting into this "giving people knives/getting them into knives" thing Ken!

I gave my 12-year-old nephew a Leatherman Fuse for his 8th grade graduation...his first edged thing!

My brother-in-law is getting the Moore Maker...

And...my wife just bought herself a Northwoods Stag 2-blade Congress from our friend Forensic Jim over the weekend.

Its all almost, but not quite, as fun as buying a knife for yourself. key word...almost.

useem...I've told this story before, I'm sure, but two weeks ago I got a Schatt&Morgan Goldenroot Peanut.

I had to pry the thing out of my wife's (not a knife fan!) hands. She said it looked and felt like a piece of quality jewelry (she's right). She said she could see herself carrying a pretty little peanut like that.

Then I showed her a picture of the Schatt&Morgan Stag Reverse Peanut. She loved it.

Then I showed her the Northwoods stag knives. She bought one. A 4 inch big fat stag Half Congress.

I think a woman who likes finely crafted jewelry made of quality materials appreciates a similarly crafted knife.

Given that, I am NOT going to show her any pictures of William Henry knives.

Well I tryed that too...It did NOT work for me.

I got her a Leg knife. She not like it looked to SEXEST.

I got her this PINK Kershaw. She did not like it to sharp and pointy.

I got her an Executive Swiss Army Knife. She loves it. The File works so good on her nails. The scissors works good and cutting hang nails. Thats one she won't give back or loose.

But still no Christmas or B-Day knife YET.

I have seen some composite handle models, generally with two different colored handles front/back. They are being made by Queen, but you can spot them by their price tag...

I have a bunch of MooreMaker knives, and just bought a buffalo handled stockman for my nephew - over the past year I have passed a Spyderco Calypso, an old Fallkniven F1 and copies of Kochanski and Nessmuk to the little delinquent.

Hopefully the stockman will give him something to carry about with him on a day to day basis

the lines on the blades of these Morre Makers are terrific, and the steel behaves admirably

He does know Marcinek - I do go on about it to him. I gave him a Mini Manix at one point, and was just abou tto suggest he give it back when he rang me to say that at some point the thing was likely going to get him into trouble, so he handed it to his dad to use on the lorry
