The Holley Hobo Redcross Big Mistake Christmas Knife

Post by reddirtknives »

I have had fun reading and learning about these knives and the story of how they came about. I would almost bet that there are other stories along with pleanty of theories as well but I haven't come across them. Here's a link to a topic on these here on AAPK where coffeecake as usual goes above and beyond in detail explaining these knives. I had only seen the Camillus made hobo until I ran across a Holley. I recently learned that Ulster and Case also made these on contract. http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... =2&t=38026
There are currently 2 of these for sale on ebay. One is well used and is described as Civil War era. The other is the one pictured in the link. This big mistake Redcross knife was a good mistake when it came to the American cutlery trade. Have any of you heard any other stories as to how these knives came about? Thanks
DJ

Hey no problem, even if it does look like a shameless plug. ::woot:: It really isn't. I just had them on me brain and learned of a couple of the other makers. I also thought that it fit in the knife lore thread but who am I to say? I hope I haven't overstepped me bounds.
