Interesting piece but not for $500.In some states you'd likely get busted for having drug paraphernalia(an illegal hypodermic needle) The last questionable knife I bought was declared illegal by a Federal law in 1986.Look it up;I ain't gonna mention it.

Saw this knife on a show today with the inventor of it. Thought I would bring this old thread back to life. I’m sure lots of people haven’t heard of a knife that injects CO2 into it’s victim. Very interesting idea.

This is why we don’t play with the air hoses at work. I can only imagine what the damage from a hit with this would be. Heck, I managed to open a hole on my lower palate, beside the tongue ligament, with an ordinary WaterPik.
I’m a little confused. The original post mentions that it will take down and large land predator but that it will cause the predator to float to the surface. We talking Polar Bear attack?!
Ok, in all seriousness, I guess it might help in a shark attack. Other than that, I just don’t know that I’d trust the thing. I’ll stick to the camp shotgun, kept nice and handy, in case of bears and cougars making night visits. Good old bear spray for “short trips into the bush”.

Interesting ! I think it is intended as a dive knife ? but the text hints that use on land is also effective. On land the carbon dioxide would get into tissues, abdominal cavity or inside the intestines with an abdominal stab. How much distress this would cause depends on the amount of CO2.
How much gas is in the 'cannister' ?
CO2 is rapidly absorbed into the blood stream and gets exhaled. Likely only take a few minutes to breathe it all out into the atmosphere. It is possible that the CO2 fills up the little air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) completely and so blocks air (oxygen) from entering, in which case the animal or person would suffocate.

I remember these when they first came out, I admit surprise they are still made. As a last ditch Hail Mary defense I suppose they surpass a .44 mag derringer if only because of less damage to the hand holding the weapon.
Land or sea, if the bearer is able to inject the contents of an entire CO2 cartridge five inches inside a body cavity, well, the damage will be irreversible and instantaneous. A major drawback on large bears or cats or wolves is being in the proximity of their claws and teeth while attempting the initial stab.
Seems more of an assassin's weapon than self defense against land animals. As a dive knife it also seems a bit awkward.
Interesting none the less.
