research shows HSB was hardware store, 1855-1960, sold to True Vale I think
they did not manufacture, but contracted knifes from Camillus and many other great Co's
used many tang stamps , OVB maybe most notable
then in the 1990's Tenn. River Vally Ass. got the HSB name and had decent knifes stamped HSB&co, made in Germany
I can not find anything on Tenn. River Vally?. what do you think I got here for $19.99
sold as 'vintage', 'bone', 'old' by 'knife lovers', seem like nice people and were offended when I asked questions, said i could return it and that they paid more for it than $20 and they liked it. We are friends now and I want the knife in my collection for now, but would like to know what I got

Here's one I have, it's not as nice as your, it's etched our very best. I think the original o.v.b. knives were walden knives. Nice pick up.

I wish I could find a OVB etch or stamp somewhere. there is just one blade stamp and most older ones I see have multiple tang stamps
I can't even tell if it is real bone or delrin because it is dyed so dark, think it is bone
hope it is not a new German one

Your knife is older than the 1990`s.Also appears to have comp. handles not bone.

Definitely composition. You can see where the scales have shrunk and pulled away from the bolsters, and where the material has rolled up a little at the pin heads. Still well worth $20.

thanks guys, once I blew up the photos I noticed the 'melted look' around the handle pins
I just got a lighted jewelers loupe and that helps
so you think this knife is pre 1960 when HSB sold out?
