Thanks everyone. Old dogs like that are few and far between for sure. Definitely grateful for the thirteen years. A good pet surely enriches life.

Bad news for pets. There is yet again a major recall of dog treats affecting half a dozen brands. About 500 have lost their lives to these damn imported chew treats.

Chocolate/red surely makes a fine looking dog. It could be a coincidence but all the reds I've had were fairly calm and good temperaments.knifetime wrote:To bad man he was in great shape. Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Here is a picture of my great grandson and what may be our new puppy.Jules is a 5 year old Pit Bull that my daughter rescued when she was a year old.She loves little kids and has never shown any inclination to bite and she's been tested more than a few times.
My daughter is moving to a place where pets are not allowed and she is having difficulty finding a home for Jules. My only problem is the fact that my wife is starting radiation therapy in a week which will require us to be gone a good portion of the day five days a week for five weeks. The other is my son's Jack Russell(Buddy) who is extremely protective of my wife. I fear that Buddy will try to protect her and Jules will not react well. They are not strangers to one another but living under one roof may prove to be less than perfect.
Jules also does not like squirrels or cats;both of which we have plenty of in the neighborhood.

We got Bodhi from the pound when he was 6 months, he had been abandoned--tied to a tree in a nearby park. He is now almost 3 years old and you could not ask for a better dog. He has quite a personality. Mostly pit bull, and a good representative of how the breed should behave.

Bodhi & Blitz. Handsome dogs seem to get names beginning with B. If it worked for humans I'd change my name to......Basil.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Good looking dog Jethro and Gino! Nice critters All!
Unfortunately, it was a bad week for critters around my place! I have 1-1/2 acres currently unfenced due to shear cost. My mother in law has some adjacent acreage with home as does my wife's aunt. Both are either widowed or divorced so I try to help out as much as I can with things including their critters, critter pens, etc. The pens are built solid but obviously not impenetrable.
Last Monday, I am at work and some irresponsibile owner's dog comes along and slaughters 20 chickens in 2 separate coups and a pet goat my Mother in law had for 14 years. Killed the goat and ate his face off. These animals were pet therapy for her in addition to churning out lots of eggs. Suspect dog still in pen with dead goat when Animal control arrived. The owner was fined $1100 for destruction of livestock. Based on description, I have seen this dog on my property several times and instructed my dog to kick his ass, which he happily did, several times.
This is the third time in ten years this has happened by various dogs. Once two goats killed and the other 20 chickens slaughtered.
Each time this has occurred I have not been home. Each time the Animal Control Officer arrives, they say "Next time you see that dog, shoot it". That is a qoute and not some implied message. I am legally within my right to do so but as an animal lover, especially dogs, would hate to do so as it is the owners fault. I used the phrase "irresponsibile owner's dog" due to the fact when this has happened on all 3 occasions, I tell Animal Control to tell the owner, "I will follow thru on your suggestion next time I see that dog" and miraculously they finally get around to fixing their fence and I never see the dog again. I literally would like to slap the owners like this.
I have a 5 year old Grandson that stays with us during the week when his parents are at work. We have to watch him like a hawk. Even if I drop 10,000 bucks or so into a fence, no guarantee.
Sorry to be a dark cloud on an otherwise uplifting thread. Not looking for sympathy, just venting as I am pretty pissed off at the moment even a week later. I don't belong to any other forums, knife or otherwise and just needed to let off some steam. Sorry about that. I realize things like this happen, but still.

Re: SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!
Years ago I experienced about the same thing. Lost ducks and goats that were pets. Very sad. Condolences.
