Remington R12

just got a remington r12 and am researching it
I think it was made by Camillus in the 90's but is not part of the bullet or silver bullet series.
I am new and trying to get one of everything, kind of
I have one real Remington, one silver bullet, one standard bullet repro and now this r12
i also read where the values in the books I have are wrong because of resent developments, such as
more bullet repros 'flooding market'
and the closing of Camillus,
any new's I have missed?

Just at first glance, I'd have to agree. Sure looks like it was made by Camillus. Compare to this R-14 that I know was made by Camillus.

Look inside the blade well. How are the handles mounted? Is there a round protrusion on the handle sticking through a hole in the liner? That's a method Camillus used to mount handles in the later years of their existence.

I don't have the knife in hand yet, but at $19.99 I thought I should have it in my collection
when I get it I will look into what you said and get back, maybe with photos, so I can learn about the way these knives are made

You are both right it was made by Camillus . That is one they made at the end not to long before they went out of business. They first came out in the 1996 and was called the earth wood series because of the wood handles. They did that for one year and then brought them out in derlinn. They are 7 deffrent patterns of that line,all copy of Camillus standard patterns.

I am comparing the r12 with a silver bullet and i see what you mean
there is no comparison
r12, black plastic button inside the well
SB has counter sunk brass pin ends
r12has no half stop, SB has nice half stops
r12 handle is not flush on the back of the knife with side scales
maybe that is why it was $19.99

Mickey -- There's nothing wrong with the knife unless you're disappointed it's not a pre-'40s genuine Remington. The Camillus made Remingtons are good knives, just not old.
