Took the grandsons and 3 cousins, along with 2 parents on a hike Satruday.

Taught my 10 yr old nephew how to shave wood for kindling, then start a fire with a ferro rod and dryer lint, then gave him the Imperial Ireland fixed blade hunter knife and sheath!

A very rewarding weekend for me! ::nod::

I'll bet he was as happy as a witch in a broom factory. Good on you Scott.

Took my grandson out for lunch for his birthday yesterday (he turns 14 tomorrow) and then we went out to my buddy's place and cranked off a few rounds. It was the first time he had shot the Mini-14 and the SKS. A good time was had by all.

Great looking pictures guys.

Archery season starts next week and we already had a great buck taunting us in the fields.
Hopefully I can get a pic of him after my brother puts him on the ground. ::tu::

My brother missed a big ol' doe yesterday and we didn't see anything this evening, but that's why they call it hunting.

Cool stuff guys!

Bird season opens next weekend, migratory and upland. Normally take my Rubicon but i might take my Razor UTV for upland birds since the Jeep will go anywhere but not on a 50" wide trail. My lab loves riding in it so I made her a platform yesterday so she can be deployed easier than using the passenger seat and she doesn't bust her legs off getting in and out. Gave her some more room to stretch out too. She hoped right in and went to sleep. Woke her up for the pic. Went for a cruise thru the desert today.

Nice dogg! Good harvest.

Most of the upland and migratory birds open up this Saturday till the end of January with a few exceptions here and there depending on species and zone.

Pheasant is only open for November 1st thru 30th here in Nevada. Enjoy hunting and of course eating those birds for sure. Just not many areas around here and not a whole lot of them.

We do have a fairly interesting hunt for a damn big bird but only 650 tags issued statewide for Swan by drawing. Season is from roughly October thru Februray, or until 5 Trumpeter Swans are killed, season closed no matter what the date is. Not sure how many states allow swan hunting. Be interested to here if any of you hunter's states allow it. They taste pretty good actually and whole lot to eat off one, that is for sure.

Regards, Jerry

I've been up here in Provincetown Ma. since Tuesday last enjoying my old stomping grounds. I was with the volunteer fire dept. and I was an EMT. Just so happened they had a meeting Tues. night and I attended and got to see a lot of old pals that night.
Fishing here in the salt has been real slow so I turned to a close by sweet water pond, Clapps Pond. I caught a little large mouth bass.
I've got a pretty nice St. Croix surf rod, but I also brought up a couple of old fiberglass surf rods that I rebuilt with new guides that I haven't cast in a long time. I love those old rods. Both of them will throw 2 or 3 ounces all day. So I cast them........... just to be casting them. Never expecting to catch a fish, and I didn't. It has been an absolute wonderful existence up here these few days for all of these experiences and eating deli lasagna and drinking beer into the evening.
When I fished the pond it was getting kind of coolish and I had to retie my line a couple times for different reasons and my hand were kind of cold. I had a big knife with me. I was a real comfort. So big it would appear ungainly in that situation but it offered a great purchase with very little chance of dropping it as one (me) could easily do with a smaller knife, and not get it back. I was in chest waders and almost up to my hips in water. All I used it for was to cut line. It also has a lanyard.
I bought that knife from 313Mike. It's Cold Steels Twistmaster. I'm glad I had it. Actually I have nippers on a lanyard too but that's no fun.
God blesses me in so many ways.
Thanks.
