Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Hi Dave, I would say it's an 8OT Old Timer with an 881 Blade...
My first Schrade was an 881; I found new, in a Gun Shop in Down-Town Sydney back in 1973...Ken
This is my user; I've been using for 40 years.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
I am not an expert on Ulster, but I think that knife is late 1940s or 1950s, right after WW II, but it is possible it is a pre war knife.trm@2013 wrote:some of the folks in the chatroom thought ya'll could date this stamp
it came to here as attachment ;hope to get better at this pooter soon
thanks to all; I think its kinda old
The materials look like late 1940s-1950s to me, but the tang stamp looks older to me, like pre 1940 when Albert Baer bought Ulster.
I would guesstimate it to be between 60 to 75 years old.

The catalog called them "Blackened Blades."
I have no idea what they used to blacken them.

I do not know much about these knives, I was told they were only sold by walmart ( like the 55UH)
I have one of each, however they do not come up for sale too often in NIB.
The blades on the 24OTX were titanium Nitride coated.

It was late last night when I answered his post and my brain was only firing on about 5 cylinders!
Not good if you are have 6 cylinders, but really not good if you used to be a V-8!

They were indeed sold only at Walmart. I thought Paul Prudhomme did the blades.

Hi Old Mate, you only need 5 cylenders. I have always liked V8 engines.orvet wrote:

Hi Ken,
Looks like you brought your 24otx from SRSSW. Looks like his trademark box, with all the Dymo lettering and numbers.
Tony.

Re: What is Your Latest Old Schrade?
Schrade Walden 890 Premium Stockman 50's vintage.
Other than an someone trying to rub off some carbon staining, this peachseed handled stockman with a long pull came in excellent condition. Nice meaty clip blade with a long pull. All of the blades show some nice swedge cuts.

That is my sentiment on this old fashioned method to place a picture in the forum. The huge attachment frame is lind of clunky looking. I like the clean IMAGE TAG method much better. It looks nicer and a lot quicker. Just my 2 cents worth.

It might look nicer and be quicker to post, however it is not permanent. Members come and go and their pictures are deleted on a picture hosting site leaving us with a blank spot where a picture should be.thawk wrote:![]()

If you are researching a particular knife and you find an old thread and the picture is missing it is very disappointing. With this method the pictures will remain long after a member leaves or deleted their pictures on a hosting site. Also, the pictures can be enlarged with a couple of clicks for more detail with this method.
It is for the best in the long run, you will get use to it.
Here is an example of what I am talking about, check your old post on this page.

Good point on that. Enjoying a rack of crow. I'd correct that old post, but for some reason that thread apears not to be editable.
It's good they will stay.
