Here's a knife on Ebay that actually says "Counterfeit"
He spelled it wrong, though. "Counterfit".
He says:
NOTE: THIS KNIFE DOES NOT COME FROM FACTORY WITH THIS STAMP(CASE TESTED XX ( MADE IN THE 1970's HAS BEEN CHANGED TO SEEM OLDER----"COUNTERFIT"-----ONLY SELLING KNIFE AS AN EXAMPLE OF "COUNTERFITING". STILL MAKES A GOOD WHITTLER TO USE.
He's being honest, but he's still selling it. Is that OK? What will the next guy do?

The next guy might try to double his money and pass it on as being authentic. I think it should be removed from circulation.

I tend to agree with that. But I guess he could deface the stamp and sell it as a "user".

I seriously doubt that it will sell for $125
Hopefully it will die a silent ebay no sell death.

Even the good ones, at reasonable prices, are doing that now. They are fighting over $20 knives, and everything else sits.Cutty wrote:I seriously doubt that it will sell for $125![]()

should be destroyed. bunch of crap that this is being offered for sale, in my opinion. needs to be off the market. Sale price would indicate that the seller probably got burned on it and is trying to get some money back. My Dad got burned for $200 on a real bad one. I did not realize it till after he was gone and I saw the knife. Posted it to get opinions, total fake. Member offered to buy it and I declined as to keep it out of circulation. I inadvertantly offended the member (I think) as he wanted for his kid (I felt pretty bad about it) but just wasn't going here. He had no intention of burning someone with it but I figured the buck stopped here. My son wanted it and I told him no also. I keep it as a reminder of being aware of the fakes out there until I take it out and put a bullet thru it to really make sure it never sees another collector.

Easy out for the seller is to grind the stamp off the tang, start the bidding at 99 cents and let someone buy it as a user.

I would like to have that blade (or one like it) for my Grandfathers really old Case "Tested" that the main blade has been snapped off. Not ever for sale but just to restore his old whittler for one of his Great or Great Great Grandsons.
