Look what the postman brought today! I couldn´t resist and had to get one of those scary sharp Rocksteads. This is only the little CHOU in YXR-7 steel, a tool steel which is around 65 Rockwell. It´s long enough for most of the cutting tasks which are thrown at it in an urban enviroment and should need resharpening in about three years. A little bit of stropping now and then is said to be enough. The bad news is that to regain that factory edge I will have to send it to Japan.

Well, you can´t have it all...
The steel is not stainless so they coated it with DLC (diamond like carbon coating). That mirror polish on the blade is awesome! It has a small Kydex sheath and comes in a nice japanese fabric pouche.
Fortunately the price is not as insanely high as with their folders.
As beautiful as it is, this is meant to be a EDC and Rockstead even encourages you in this. After all they are a tool making company.
