I heard that some Buck knives are now being made in China now. Does anyone know if that's true?

Some but not all. My wife picked up an American Buck 110 and it came with a small Buck lockback made in China. Not impressed with it, the Chinese Buck, guess it came free to market it. Says China right on the ricasso.

yeah, the slipjoints and smaller knives are being made in China now. The 110 and 112 and fixed blades are still USA made to my knowledge.

Some of the 300 series are made in china. I bought my first one thinking it was USA made and was surprised to see it stamped china. Well that knife (a trapper) cut and held an edge just like any other BUCK I own. Went and bought a second one of the exact same model for testing, and it was not good at all. Good for 2 or 3 cuts, then the edge is gone. So thats my experience with the imported BUCKS.

Yeah its's true. I've got a model 375 "Deuce". A small 2 blade, 2.5/8 in. closed, folder. 440C steel. A good knife, can't find anything wrong with it.

I would like for someone to tell me though: I've heard that the makers make the parts here in the U.S., ship the parts over there, they are only assembled in China, ship'em back over here, the U.S. customs dept. requires that they dislplay the word "China" on them. I find it hard to believe that this process is significantly cheaper... enough so the maker can realize a reasonable profit. Are the parts pre-finnished or pre-fitted before they are sent to China, or does the assembly in China include finnish work so that all edges are smooth flush the way a fine knife should be?

Somebody please explain

they are manufactured in china.

You mean manufactured as in from start to finnish, or is just some of the work done in China?

Here are my 2 trappers. Small one cuts like a champ, large one not nearly as good

Both come in at under $20.

I was going to buy a Buck Stockman but I saw "china" on it so I let the store keep it.
