Ka-Bar Fixed Blade: another nice find

No, I am not seeing Olean, NY (I assume related to Cutco location).

It's nice looking knife wait till bob (Elvis) comes around he knows way more then I, he helped me out with a kabar not to long ago.

Unfortunately, it was Kabar's folders that I did their repairs for. I worked on very few fixed blades and those were always the Marine Fighting Knives they are famous for. I'd go to Kabar's web site and contact them for information on that one. Even the company has changed hands a couple of times, they are still the best source of reference for anything Kabar.

Just my 2 cents but the sheath looks like a Western sheath with some custom leather work and I've never seen a KA-BAR blade etched like that.

Your sheath is proper to your knife, and they were made in the early 1950s.

These were made in the early 1950s and there are several hunting knives and a lot of kitchen knives made with this etching.

I've got one or two like that, and my brother has more. The chrome is soft: not as soft as bumper chrome, but close. When the chrome gets scratched and the underlying steel takes on a patina, they look pretty nasty--I think that cut into their sales in later years.
